SAN ANGELO, Texas – St. Edward's baseball held the number one team in nation scoreless in all but two innings but fell 12-3 Tuesday evening.
A quiet start to the game gave way to an explosive fourth inning, starting with the Hilltoppers at the plate.
TYLER DEAN broke the scoring open with a single to center, driving home
JAKE HAHN and
BLAKE HOLUB.
JONATHAN MENDEZ added an RBI single to put SEU up 3-0 through the top half of the fourth.
ASU was quick to respond, posting four runs in the bottom half of the inning to lead 4-3.
Three more scoreless innings led to a Ram run onslaught at ASU unloaded for eight runs in the eighth to hand the Hilltoppers the loss.
Dean and Mendez led at the plate with one hit each while
BRADY HUCKFELT suffered the loss on the mound.
St. Edward's falls to 5-11 on the year and 5-11 in Lone Star Conference play. They return to action on Friday, hosting Lubbock Christian at 2 pm.
