Hilltoppers close regular season with 3-0 win over UTPB

Box Score ODESSA, Texas – St. Edward's women's soccer downed UT Permian Basin 3-0 on the road Wednesday to close the regular season.
 
St. Edward's pressed early, earning two corner kicks and free kicks in the opening ten minutes. SARAH PRESTON had the first solid look at goal, but it sailed just left and out of harm's way.
 
The Hilltoppers were knocking on the door of the Falcons and got the break they needed just before halftime, earning a penalty kick with 30 seconds remaining. WREN BLANCHETTE took the PK and buried the ball in the back of the net to send SEU into the break up 1-0.
 
Just nine minutes into the second frame, KATIE GAY gave SEU some breathing room with a hard shot to the low left, beating UTPB to give St. Edward's a 2-0 lead. SEU wasn't done yet, however, as SARAH GUNDERSON drilled low, driving shot with just over six minutes remaining to give the Hilltoppers the 3-0 win. 
 
The Hilltoppers led 13-3 in shots and 7-3 in shots on goal and 6-2 in corners. SEU improves to 3-4 on the season and 3-2 in Lone Star Conference play and will await other LSC action to find out their final seeding for the LSC Tournament beginning on Saturday.
