TYLER, Texas – St. Edward's quickly regrouped and blew past Southeastern Oklahoma State University in their second match of the day, winning 25-10, 25-18, 25-17 to improve to 5-1 on the season.
The Hilltoppers jumped out to a 14-4 lead in the first set and never looked back, holding the Bison to just ten points in the set. SEU hit .423 while holding SEOSU to 0.00.
St. Edward's had their attack slow in the second set, hitting only .138, but their defense remained sharp as they once again held Southeastern to 0.00, forcing seven hitting errors while allowing only seven kills.
The Hilltopper's attack revved back up in the second set, posting 17 kills with just three errors to close out the match in straight sets.
CAROLINE SWAN led the way offensively with 16 kills with an outstanding .560 attack percentage while
LOURDES GOMEZ added 13 kills while hitting .346.
EMILY TRAN had 35 assists with two aces while
JILLIENNE CONNELL posted a team high three aces.
St. Edward's closes the weekend on Saturday, facing Harding at 1 pm.
