TRISTYN CABELLO scored her first goal as a Hilltopper just 27 seconds into the second half to lift St. Edward's past California State San Bernardino Friday night.
CSUSB kicked off in the half, but SEU quickly gained control and stormed towards goal.
SARAH GUNDERSON was able to find Cabello who buried the ball in the back of the net to put St. Edward's up 1-0.
That was all the room the Hilltoppers needed as the defense took care of the rest to earn their second straight shutout.
St. Edward's trailed 12-11 in shots but had seven on frame while Coyotes only managed five on goal. SEU also led 4-2 in corner kicks while getting flagged for offside four times.
ABBY CARLSON had five saves to earn her first win of her collegiate career.
The Hilltoppers close out their West Coast trip on Sunday, facing Cal State Poly Pomona at 1:30 pm.
