AMARILLO, Texas – St. Edward's volleyball recorded another win to remain unbeaten in their first day of action, defeating Adams State 3-1 Friday evening.
St. Edward's dropped set one after ASU scored four straight points late in the match to take the lead 22-21. After a short rally, Adams State was able to take the first set 27-25.
ASU started well in the second set, but it was an SEU four-point run that allowed the Hilltoppers to build a slight lead, 12-10, and followed with a five-point run late in the set that proved to be the difference maker. St. Edward's trailed by two, 18-20, before getting hot at just the right time to win the set 26-24.
St. Edward's had complete control of the match the rest of the way, winning set three 25-18 and set four 25-20 to take the match 3-1.
The Hilltoppers hit .224 for the match with 62 kills.
KAITLYN KRAFKA led the charge with 14 kills while
LAUREN SCOTT added 12.
SARAH KONOVODOFF kept the ASU hitters in check with a team high 17 digs while
EMILY TRAN continued her outstanding play with 50 assists.
St. Edward's improves to 2-0 on the season and remain in Amarillo to face Fort Lewis tomorrow at 1:30 PM.
