AMARILLO, Texas – The St. Edward's volleyball team complete their weekend with a dominating performance against Southwestern Oklahoma State University. The Hilltoppers won handily after a challenging opening set, winning in straight sets 29-27, 25-18, 25-13.
The lead seesawed back and forth throughout the first set, until SEU posted four straight points to go up 22-20, seemingly having the set in hand. SWOSU briefly led and the lead changed hands until the Hilltoppers scored three straight points to close out the set one win 29-27.
Two runs midmatch set up the win in set two before SEU controlled every aspect of the third set to win handily.
SEU hit .297 while holding SWOSU to just .134 including a .000 attack percentage in the final frame.
KAITLYN KRAFKA led with 12 kills while
JILLIENNE CONNELL added 11 with a team-high four blocks.
SARAH KONOVODOFF posted 16 digs in the win with Nicole Grant adding 10.
St. Edward's starts the year at 4-0 and return to action on Friday, September 10. The Hilltoppers will travel to UT Tyler to compete in the 2021 Dakota's Patriot Classic and open against Oklahoma Baptist.
