AUSTIN – A run in at the end of the first quarter put Cameron up and St. Edward's wasn't able to recover as SEU fell 75-63 to Cameron Saturday afternoon.
 
The first five minutes were tight as the lead jumped back and forth in the first quarter. St. Edward's led 12-9 with 4:44 to play in the frame, but the Aggies closed on a 16-6 run to lead 25-18.
 
Cameron extended their lead to 13 early in the second quarter and held on to send the Hilltoppers into the locker room trailing by five, 40-35.
 
SEU wasn't able to climb closer in the second half to suffer the loss. St. Edward's shot 47.9 percent from the floor but just 22.2 percent from three point range. Cameron hit 11 from long range in the win while shooting 41.2 percent from the floor.
 
SAMMIE DUFEK led the way with 16 points while also pulling down a team high eight rebounds and five blocks. LAUREN CATHERMAN and MORGAN GARY added 13 points each with TAYLOR COCKERILL posting 11. Cockerill also added seven assists.
 
The Hilltoppers fall to 8-7 on the year and 1-3 in Lone Star Conference play while Cameron moves to 8-5 overall and 3-0 in conference action. SEU returns to action on Monday, facing UT Permian Basin in a makeup of their previously postponed contest. Tipoff is set for 1 pm.
