LUBBOCK, Texas – A quick start to the second half by #1 Lubbock Christian pushed LCU past St. Edward's men's basketball Thursday evening.
It was a tight game early on with the game tying again 16-16 with just under ten minutes to play.
UCHE DIBIAMAKA's three with 8:19 to go in the half put SEU up 22-16, but LCU rumbled back to tie the score 35-35 at the break.
As the second half got underway, Lubbock Christian came out on a mission went up by 16 by holding SEU scoreless in the first six and a half minutes. It wasn't until the 12:49 mark that the Hilltoppers got their first field goal of the frame.
The deficit proved too much to overcome as SEU never closer than 12 points.
St. Edward's shot 30 percent from the floor and 28.9 percent from three point range in the loss. Dibiamaka and
LUKE PLUYMEN led the way with 16 points each.
JAKE KRAFKA led on the boards with seven rebounds.
The Hilltoppers fall to 8-8 on the season and 2-4 in Lone Star Conference play. They return to action on Saturday, taking on Eastern New Mexico in Portales, New Mexico at 5 pm CT.
