COMMERCE, Texas - The St. Edward's women's basketball team fell to no. 2 nationally ranked Texas A&M Commerce 76-53. The Lions had three players score in double-digits in the win.

In the first quarter, the Lions jumped out to an early lead. The Hilltoppers trailed by nine points midway through the first quarter, but pulled to within four at the end of the quarter.

Early into the second quarter, the Hilltoppers tied the score and it was a back and forth battle with the score tied 27-27 at two minutes remaining in the half. Â However, a late run in the quarter's final minute gave the Lions an eight-point lead heading into halftime.Â

The Lions pulled away from the Hilltoppers in the third quarter as they outscored SEU 27-14 in the quarter and took the biggest lead of the game in the fourth with less than two minutes to go.

The Hilltoppers out performed the Lions in shooting percentage in field goals and 3-pt shots; the difference in the game came on the boards and the free throw line. The Lions pulled down 22 more rebounds than the Hilltoppers, and were 22-30 from the charity stripe while the Hilltoppers went 2-5.  Â

The Hilltoppers were led by Morgan Gary, who put up 15 points on 7-10 shooting and had 3 assists. Bella Muscoreil added 12 pts, and Lauren Catherman eight. Sammie Dufek led the defensive effort pulling down 7 rebounds and blocking 6 Lion shots.Â

The loss drops the Hilltoppers' record to 11-15 overall and 4-11 in Lone Star Conference play.Â

SEU is back in action Saturday against UT Tyler in the Herrington Patriot Center. Tip-off is set for 2 pm.Â
