OKLAHOMA CITY , Oklahoma - The St. Edward's baseball team defeated Oklahoma Christian in game four of their four-game series 5-3.
After a scoreless first, the heart of the Hilltopper lineup drove in the game's first run in the second inning. An RBI single by Chase Cos gave the Hilltoppers the early advantage.
In the third, an RBI single by Jake Hahn and a fielder's choice allowed the Hilltoppers to take an early 3-0 lead.
After two scoreless innings, Davis Drewek scored on a throwing error to give the Hilltoppers a 4-0 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth. Later in the inning, the Eagles cut the deficit in half following a two-run homer, bringing the score to 4-2.
In the ninth, a passed ball allowed Kyler Kerlin to score, extending the Hilltoppers lead to 5-2 heading into the bottom of the ninth. The Eagles would add on a run in the bottom of the ninth, but that's all they would get as they would fall to the Hilltoppers 5-3.
Jack Granack picked up his third win of the season, pitching six innings and allowing just two runs off four hits. Jayson Flores picked up his fifth save of the season as he shut the door on the Eagles in the bottom of ninth.
SEU is back home this weekend as they host rival St. Mary's in a four-game series. First pitch for Friday is set for 2 pm.
