LUBBOCK, Texas - The St. Edward's baseball team dropped game one to #21 Lubbock Christian 12-10.

After a scoreless first, the Hilltoppers struck first, putting up two runs in the second. An RBI single by Turner Olson gave the Hilltoppers an early 1-0 lead. Later in the inning, Josh Graham picked up an RBI to push the lead to 2-0.Â

In the bottom of the third, the Chaparrals put up four runs to take their first lead of the game. Two RBI singles and a sacrifice fly allowed the Chaps to take a 4-2 lead over the Hilltoppers.

However, in the fourth, the Hilltoppers would tie the game up following a two-run single by Kyler Kerlin. MORGAN ALLEN blasted a three-run homer in the fifth to give the Hilltoppers the lead. Entering the bottom of the fifth, the Hilltoppers held a 7-4 lead.

The Hilltoppers added two more runs on a sacrifice bunt and an error in the top of the sixth. Turner Olsen laid down the successful sacrifice bunt, and Cullen Ainsworth scored after a throwing error by the catcher, giving the Hilltoppers a 9-4 lead.

However, the Chaps offense put up seven runs to regain the lead in the bottom of the sixth. Two RBI singles, two RBI doubles, a fielder's choice, and an error allowed the Chaps to take an 11-9 lead.  Â

In the bottom of the seventh, LCUÂ would add one more run on a sacrifice fly to extend their lead to 12-9.

The Hilltoppers added a run in the top of the ninth on an RBI by JAKE HAHN, but the comeback would fall short as they lost 12-10.
