AUSTIN, Texas - The St. Edward's baseball team lost another close game to #15 Angelo State in the series finale, 7-4.
The Rams got on the board in the first on a solo home run to take an early 1-0 lead. Chase Cos answered back with a solo home run of his own in the bottom of the second to tie the game at 1-1.
After a scoreless third, the Rams broke the 1-1 tie on a wild pitch to retake the lead, bringing the score to 2-1. Stacey Bailey tied the game up at 2-2 on a sacrifice fly to center field in the fifth.
In the sixth, a Morgan Allen triple gave the Hilltoppers their first lead of the game at 3-2. However, in the seventh, a bases-loaded walk and a sacrifice fly allowed the Rams to retake the lead bringing the score to 4-3.
Davis Drewek tied the game up at 4-4 on a single to left field in the bottom of the seventh.
The Rams scored three unearned runs in the eighth to retake the lead. A two-run double and an RBI single allowed the Rams to come away with the win.
Jack Granack pitched six quality innings allowing two runs on five hits while striking out nine batters. Braden Olsen and Jayson Flores combined to pitch three innings giving up four hits and two earned runs in the loss.
SEU is back on the road starting Friday as they take on Texas A&M International in a four-game series. First pitch for game one is set for 2 pm in Laredo.
