GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado - The St. Edward's baseball team's season has come to an end following their loss to #2 Colorado Mesa in the NCAA South Central Regional final.Â

The Mavericks jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in the top of the first. Two home runs and an RBI single allowed the Mavericks to take the lead.Â

Stacey Bailey singled home a run in the bottom of the first to bring the score to 6-1.

CMU drove in seven runs to take a 13-1 lead in the top of the third. Later in the inning, Eric Worden singled home a run on an RBI double to right-center, bringing the score to 13-2.

In the bottom of the fourth, Turner Olson singled to left field to bring the score to 13-3.

The Mavericks drove in eleven runs in the top of the fifth to take a 24-3 lead.

In the sixth, the Hilltoppers drove in three runs on a Carlo Figueroa solo home run and a two-run single by Stacey Bailey.

In the eighth, Jake Hahn doubled to left-center, driving in one run, and in the ninth, Josh Graham hit a two-run homer to left field.

The Hilltoppers outscored the Mavericks in the final four innings; however, the Mavericks still walked away with the 28-9 victory.

St. Edward's ends their 2022 campaign with a 32-25 record. In his first year as head coach of the Hilltoppers, Bryan Faulds brought his team just three wins shy of the college world series.
