OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – St. Edward's volleyball and Oklahoma Christian went the distance and then some, with the Eagle prevailing over the Hilltoppers in extra points in the fifth set.
ADDY BADLEY led the Hilltoppers with a career-best 17 kills on a .500 hitting percentage. The redshirt sophomore middle blocker also contributed two service aces, two block assists, and a solo block to finish with 21 points.
St. Edward's battled back from down 15-10 in the first set to tie the set multiple times behind a strong start from
NATALIA WALLS, showcasing an all-around game with four kills on a .667 hitting percentage, six assists, and five digs. Walls brought the Hilltoppers to within one on a kill at 24-23, but St. Edward's tenth error of the set clinched it for Oklahoma Christian.
CORA YOUNG helped anchor a stellar defensive effort in the second set, recording four block assists as the Hilltoppers held the Eagles to .089 hitting for a 25-20 second-set win.
The Hilltoppers carried the momentum into the third set with a monster seven kills on 12 attacks from Badley, leading the team to a .308 hitting percentage to go up 2-1 with a 25-19 win.
Oklahoma Christian roared back behind a combined nine kills on 15 attacks from Annie Davis and Megan Rek to give the Eagles a 25-16 win to tie the match at 2-2.
St. Edward's and Oklahoma Christian went back and forth with eight ties in the final set. Davis and Giorgia Turrie posted four kills each to lead the Eagles to the 18-16 win.
St. Edward's drops to 7-18 and 3-10 in conference play. The Hilltoppers will travel to play Dallas Baptist on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
