St. Edward's women's soccer travels roughly 380 miles to Lubbock, Texas, this week in hopes of moving one spot in the Lone Star Conference standings.
The Hilltoppers are eighth in a field where the top seven teams earn a spot in the Lone Star Conference Tournament. St. Edward's (5-6-3, 4-5-2) is just below Lubbock Christian University (7-6-3, 4-5-1), which hosts the Hilltoppers at 4:00 p.m.
It's win or go home for both teams in the regular-season finale. Lubbock Christian is coming off a 1-0 loss to Midwestern State on Tuesday, while St. Edward's lost 1-0 to UT Tyler.
The teams are ninth and tenth in scoring offense, with Lubbock Christian owning a slight edge at 1.25 goals per game to St. Edward's 1.07.
ARI RAMIREZ and
CAITLYN GONZALEZ lead the Hilltoppers attack, combining for 21 points. Ramirez utilizes her pace to create opportunities, scoring five goals this season on 12 shots, putting eight on goal with three game-winners. Gonzalez is fifth in the conference with six assists and has two goals, including one game-winner.
Lubbock Christian's Lexi De La Cruz leads the Lone Star Conference with nine goals and dished out six assists.
St. Edward's leads the series 13-2-2, though the Hilltoppers are coming off a 5-1 loss to the Lady Chaps last season. Then, the Hilltoppers had a 13-9 advantage in shots taken, but Lubbock Christian got two goals and an assist from De La Cruz.
