SAN ANGELO, Texas – St. Edward's baseball sustained its fourth consecutive loss against Angelo State, the top-ranked team in the Lone Star Conference, falling 8-0 to the Rams.
The Hilltopper defense committed four errors, including back-to-back mistakes in the third inning, allowing the Rams' first run across the plate.
Angelo State scored two more in the fourth. Harris hit a leadoff single, and after Boggs popped up to center field, Kelton doubled to right, putting runners on second and third. Then, the Rams got back-to-back RBI singles from Kelton and Johnson for the 3-0 lead.
The Rams kept the pressure on with five consecutive singles to open the fifth, plating four more runs. The game's final run came on a balk in the seventh with bases loaded.
CONNOR COX hit 2-for-4, and reserve catcher MATT JOHNSON went 2-for-3 for the Hilltoppers. LANCE LITTLE, DAVIS DREWEK, RYAN FEDDERSEN, and REID STIEFEL each had a hit.
The Hilltoppers drop to 32-13 with a 30-13 conference record. St. Edward's will finish the regular season at home next weekend with a four-game series against Texas A&M International, starting Friday at 2:00 p.m.
