The Lone Star Conference released the 10-team field for the LSC Softball Championship Tournament, which will be played from May 4-6 at Irwin Ballpark in Tyler, Texas.
St. Edward's earned the ninth seed in the tournament and will open against eighth-seed Angelo State on Thursday, May 4, at 1:30 p.m. The Hilltoppers wrapped up the regular season with a 26-25 record, including 20-22 in conference play.
UT-Tyler is the top seed and host of the single-elimination event after claiming its third consecutive LSC regular season title with a 39-2 league record. The Patriots (51-4 overall), who have set a program record for wins and have won 28 consecutive games, reached the NCAA Division II national semifinals last season. Four-time LSC Tournament Champion West Texas A&M (46-5, 37-5 LSC), which has won 10 straight games and 25 of its last 26, is the No. 2 seed.
Oklahoma Christian (34-14, 29-13) is the No. 3 seed, followed by Lubbock Christian (39-14, 29-13), Cameron (30-22, 25-17), 2019 LSC Tournament champion Texas A&M-Kingsville (24-25, 21-20), St. Mary's (31-24, 21-21), two-time LSC Tournament champion Angelo State (29-24, 21-21), St. Edward's (26-25, 20-22) and Eastern New Mexico (25-29, 17-25).
UT Tyler (No. 3), West Texas A&M (12), Lubbock Christian (24) and Oklahoma Christian (25) are all ranked in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Top 25 poll.
Every game of the LSC Championship will be available on the LSC Digital Network at LoneStarConferenceNetwork.com or on the LSC Digital Network OTT app. Fans will be able to purchase a daily LSC Softball Championship Day Pass for $10.
The winner of the event will be named the LSC Softball Tournament champion and earn the league's automatic qualification to the 2023 NCAA Division II South Central Regional, held May 11-13 at a site to be determined. The regional selection show is on May 8 at 9 a.m. CT on NCAA.com.
