AUSTIN, Texas – Three Hilltoppers scored double-digit kills, but St. Edward's volleyball still fell to Texas Woman's University in three sets (20-25, 17-25, 28-26, 20-25).
ADDY BADLEY recorded 12 kills on a match-high .426 hitting percentage, followed by
DELANEY GREGORY with 11 on a .167 clip, and
LAUREN SCOTT's ten kills on a .286 hitting percentage. Badley and Gregory also added six digs and a block assist each. St. Edward's posted an early 16-13 lead in the first set, but TWU reeled off a 6-0 run to overtake the Hilltoppers.
TWU posted 17 kills on a .361 clip in the second set, led by Cara Pool's six kills on eight attacks. St. Edward's had 11 kills on a .194 hitting percentage.
Gregory made several clutch plays in a third set with 11 ties and five lead changes, closing the set out with back-to-back kills to clinch the set. Gregory had seven kills in the set.
In the fourth set, TWU responded with a .357 hitting percentage to clinch the match. Gregory had four kills on seven attacks in the final set.
St. Edward's falls to 5-9 with a 1-1 conference record, Texas Woman's improves to 10-3 with a 2-0 conference record. The Hilltoppers will hit the road next weekend for matches at West Texas A&M and Cameron.
