CANYON, Texas – St. Edward's volleyball opened its road trip with a 3-0 loss to the No. 5-ranked West Texas A&M Lady Buffs, falling 25-19, 25-15, 25-12.
LAUREN SCOTT led the Hilltoppers with her second consecutive 10-kill match. The senior middle blocker and right-side hitter opened strong with five kills on a .333 hitting percentage in a competitive first set, finishing with ten on a .200 clip. She also had a team-high two blocks.
West Texas A&M limited St. Edward's under a .100 hitting percentage in the following two sets to pull away and clinch the match.
The Lady Buffs hit .370 for the match, led by Emma Becker's nine kills on 16 attacks. Carny Jones was just as efficient, putting down eight kills on a .583 clip.
LOURDES GOMEZ led the team with ten digs,
JORDAN CHAPMAN recorded 12 assists, and Sarah Konvodoff had two aces.
St. Edward's falls to 5-10 with a 1-2 conference record. West Texas A&M improves to 12-2 with a 2-1 conference record. The Hilltoppers will hit the court again tomorrow at Cameron. The match starts at 2 p.m.
