WICHITA FALLS, Texas – St. Edward's volleyball dropped its first game of the weekend road trip in three sets, losing to Midwestern State 25-17, 25-18, 25-21.
MIA CLAY led the Hilltoppers with 10 kills. However, St. Edward's hit just .089 for the match, and Midwestern State totaled 43 kills on a .224 clip, six team blocks, and five aces.
Peighton Serda and Arrianna Fields set the tone for Midwestern State with four kills each on better than .400 hitting in the first set. The Hilltoppers finished with more errors (nine) than kills (eight) in the loss.
KELLI FORDING and Clay combined for seven kills in the second set, but Riley Rabedeaux countered with six on .429 hitting for Midwestern State to put the Mustangs up 2-0.
KAYLEN LEMBCKE sparked St. Edward's with four kills on seven attacks in the third set, but Rabedeaux had five, and Gabrielle Oos had three to close the match.
ALTHEA MORRIS totaled 22 assists, and
BEA ANGELES led the team with 17 digs. St. Edward's drops to 9-9 with a 1-6 conference record. The Hilltoppers will play TWU on Saturday.
