GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas – St. Edward's men's cross country rested several key members ahead of the upcoming conference meet but still turned in a solid performance and the DBU Old Glory Gallop, placing 12th out of 41 teams.
Sophomore
HOGAN HEIKKINEN paced the Hilltoppers with an 8K personal-best 25:03 to finish 33rd, starting strong with a sub-five minute first mile and eclipsing that pace through the third and fourth.
Freshman
ARLO GONZALES followed in 69th with a time of 25:41,
AJ PENA in 84th with a time of 26:01,
WILLIAM SULENTICH with a personal-best 26:17 in 94th, and
PARKER STEVENS rounded out the top five at 26:43 to place 113th.
MELECIO ORTIZ (127th, 26:58) and Gabe Hernandez (159th, 27:35) also competed.
St. Edward's will spend the next few weeks training for the Lone Star Conference Championships, hosted by Texas A&M-Kingsville on October 26 at Kleberg Park.
