ODESSA, Texas – St. Edward's volleyball opened its match with Texas Permian Basin with a first-set 25-22 win but dropped the next three 25-14, 25-15, 25-22 in a four-set loss. 
 
MIA CLAY led the Hilltoppers with 15 points, recording 11 kills with an ace and three solo blocks. KAYLEN LEMBCKE was efficient with 13 kills on .321 hitting, but St. Edward's hit just .099 and committed 12 service errors to 10 aces in the loss. 
 
Six different Hilltoppers recorded a kill in a balanced first-set attack led by Clay's four kills and two solo blocks. JORDAN CHAPMAN and DELANEY GREGORY added two aces, and Lembcke closed the set with two kills. 
 
St. Edward's committed seven errors with seven kills in the second set and four service errors, and Texas Permian Basin's Ashlee Macias had five kills on ten attacks to even the match at one set each. Macias and Gloria Geurin had four kills each on a combined 12 attacks, leading a team-wide .348 hitting percentage to take the lead. 
 
Lembcke had six kills on 13 attacks, and Clay and ADDY BADLEY had five each to stabilize the Hilltopper attack, but Grace Feddern had five kills on nine attacks to clinch the match. 
 
St. Edward's will wrap up its season next week with a road game against Texas A&M-Kingsville on Wednesday and a home game against St. Mary's on Saturday.
