AUSTIN, Texas – St. Edward's women's basketball hung around No. 2-ranked Texas Woman's University for three quarters, but All-American forward Ashley Ingram kept the Pioneers steady as a metronome to pull away late for a 74-52 win over the Hilltoppers.
St. Edward's got an early burst of energy from its frontcourt, posting
AINSLEY THUNELL on Scout Huffman for the game's first point on a hook shot. Then,
RAMSEY ROBLEDO grabbed a defensive rebound in a crowd and broke into the open court, driving into a crowd and hitting Thunell with the dump-off pass.
MIKAH CHAPMAN continued the momentum, stuffing Huffman under the rim.
All-American forward Ashley Ingram settled the Pioneers, scoring on an offensive rebound and putback, draining a 3-pointer, finding Leila Patel on a backdoor cut for a trip to the free-throw line, then showcasing her footwork with a jab-step jumper and quick baseline spin.

Langenberg hit a critical 3-pointer to stop an 8-0 run spanning the end of the first and start of the second, and Thunell drew a charge on Huffman, but Patel and Ariyanna Hines disrupted the Hilltopper momentum with back-to-back driving layups.
The Hilltopper offense went cold in the second quarter, shooting 2-for-13 with five turnovers to trail 34-22 at the break. Ingram led all scorers with 14 points and 10 rebounds at the half. Featherstone led St. Edward's with six points, and Thunell had four and nine rebounds.
St. Edward's limited Ingram to one made basket and two free throws in the third quarter, but reserve Jada Celsur got free for seven points.
ISABEL LANGENBERG kept the Hilltoppers within reach, hitting two 3-points and both free-throw attempts for eight points in the quarter, helping St. Edward's match TWU's output with 17 in the third.
Texas Woman's went to Ingram and Huffman for a pair of baskets early, and the Pioneers outscored the Hilltoppers 10-2 in the paint over the final 10 minutes to go up by as much as 23.
Ingram scored a 22-point, 17-rebound double-double with three assists and two steals. Celsur scored 12 off the bench. Langenberg led St. Edward's with 11 points on six shots, and Featherstone and Bennett scored 10 each.
St. Edward's falls to 10-14 with a 6-8 conference record. The Hilltoppers will host UT Tyler on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
