KINGSVILLE, Texas – St. Edward's baseball split its road doubleheader against Texas A&M-Kingsville and will head into Saturday's final regular-season game seeking to earn a series tie.
Game 1: St. Edward's 6, Texas A&M-Kingsville 0
GEORGE HETTRICK delivered a masterpiece on the mound, striking out seven with no walks and only four hits surrendered in a complete-game shutout win.
JOSH GRAHAM put St. Edward's on the scoreboard with a two-RBI double to left center in the second inning, driving in
DIEGO SOLIS and
DAVID RIPPLE. Hettrick retired the side in order in the second and third innings, and Graham added to his RBI total with a sac fly in the fourth. The Hilltoppers added two more on a passed ball for the 4-0 lead.
A pitch hit
TRAVIS CHESTNUT to open the fifth, and he stole second and advanced to third, scoring on
CONNOR COX's sac fly.
TREVOR SEBEK added another sac fly RBI in the sixth.
Solis hit 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

MARCO BARRERA, Ripple, Graham, and
GRAYSON THALLMAN each had a hit.
Game 2: Texas A&M-Kingsville 20, St. Edward's 6
Texas A&M-Kingsville scored 10 runs in the third inning of a 20-6 victory over St. Edward's baseball to split the doubleheader and take a 2-1 series lead.
A pitch hit
MARCO BARRERA to open the second. After Barrera stole second, Solis drove him in with an RBI single. Vincent Sanchez tied the game in the bottom of the inning on an RBI double to right field, scoring Isaiah Aguilar, who was hit by a pitch.
The Javelinas loaded the bases with one out in the third on three consecutive singles, taking the lead when Rayfield hit Hewitt. Texas A&M-Kingsville scored 10 runs on seven hits in the inning, punctuated by a three-RBI triple from Martinez. Texas A&M-Kingsville scored four more in the fourth on a three-RBI double from Sanchez and a sac fly from Jacob Cueva.
St. Edward's loaded the bases with two outs on two walks and a single in the fifth, and Barrera cleared them with a three-RBI double to left field. The Hilltoppers loaded the bases again in the sixth on an error and two walks, scoring on another walk, then on a fielder's choice RBI before leaving three stranded.
Texas A&M-Kingsville responded with five runs on five hits in the sixth.
St. Edward's drops to 32-17 with a 31-16 conference record with the loss. The Hilltoppers will wrap up their regular season tomorrow with a 1:00 p.m. game.
