TOPEKA, Kan. — St. Edward's women's indoor track & field continued to raise the bar during the middle stages of the indoor season at the Washburn Open, competing Jan. 30–31 at the Sneed Indoor Athletic Facility in Topeka, Kansas. The Hilltoppers not only gained valuable championship-season experience, but also rewrote the program record book with standout performances across multiple events.

Senior DELANEY LONG continued her breakout season in the mile, setting a new St. Edward's indoor program record with a time of 5:06.07. Long's 23rd-place finish came in a deep, competitive field and underscored her consistency and leadership as the Hilltoppers' top middle-distance runner.

In the one-lap events, freshman BUSAYO SHOWEMIMO delivered one of the top performances of the meet, clocking a program-record time of 57.82 in the 400 meters to finish 14th overall. Showemimo's performance marked another significant step forward as the indoor season continues.

The Hilltoppers opened competition in the 60 meters, where JASMINE COOKE recorded a time of 8.10 to place 92nd in the preliminary rounds. CADENCE COLICHER followed with an 8.23, finishing 109th overall while gaining valuable early-season sprint experience.

St. Edward's distance group was active in the 3000 meters, with four Hilltoppers gaining important race experience in a large field. JENNA SAUNDERS led the group with a 24th-place finish in 10:42.51, followed by SAMMY SALAZAR in 30th (10:51.15), BRIANNE VASQUEZ in 34th (10:54.06), and Julia Gainar in 49th (11:36.57).

In the hurdles, MYOSIA VIRGIN paced the Hilltoppers in the 60-meter hurdles with a 23rd-place finish in 9.18. Mary-Kate Havens followed with a personal-best performance, crossing the line in 9.50 to place 39th overall.

The Hilltoppers capped the meet with a milestone performance in the 4x400 relay. The quartet of KARLY WEYAND, EMORY LIMUEL, SARAH-CATHERINE CHAPMAN, and Showemimo combined for a program-record time of 3:57.17, earning a seventh-place finish and highlighting the team's growing depth and execution.

Showemimo added to her strong weekend by doubling back in the triple jump, recording a mark of 11.00 meters to place 21st. LORENA CERDA also represented St. Edward's in the event, finishing 35th with a jump of 9.89 meters.

The Washburn Open served as an important early-season checkpoint for the Hilltoppers, blending record-setting performances with valuable competitive reps as St. Edward's continues its push toward peak form ahead of the Indoor Lone Star Conference Championships later this month.
