Baseball Splits Doubleheader at Cameron

LAWTON, Okla. — No. 18 St. Edward's split Monday's doubleheader at Cameron, rallying for a 3-2 win in Game 1 before falling 11-2 in Game 2 at McCord Field.
With rain postponing games on Saturday and Sunday, the Hilltoppers were forced to decide the series on Monday, ultimately dropping the three-game set two games to one.

In Game 1, the Hilltoppers responded to an early deficit with timely hitting and strong relief pitching to secure the win.

Cameron took a 2-0 lead in the second inning on a two-run home run, but St. Edward's answered in the fifth. DAWSON STUTZ drew a leadoff walk and CONNOR COX followed with a single before BEN MERRIMAN drove both runners home with a double to left field, tying the game at 2-2.

BOSTON LEE provided the decisive swing in the sixth inning, hitting a solo home run to deep center field to give the Hilltoppers a 3-2 advantage.

CONNOR FREEMAN started on the mound and struck out four over 3.2 innings, allowing two runs. FINN MIGNEREY earned the win in relief, pitching 3.1 scoreless innings while striking out three and stranding the tying and go-ahead runners in the seventh to secure the victory.

The Hilltoppers finished with six hits in the win, led by Cox and Lee with two hits each, while Merriman drove in two runs.

In Game 2, Cameron built an early lead and maintained control throughout.

The Aggies scored two runs in the first inning and added four more in the second, extending the lead to 6-0. Cameron continued to add runs, including a solo home run in the third inning, and capitalized on defensive miscues to build an 11-0 advantage through six innings.

St. Edward's showed resilience in the seventh inning. KADE NATHMAN hit a pinch-hit home run to center field for the Hilltoppers' first run, and DAVID RIPPLE added an RBI single later in the inning to make the final score 11-2.
