Junior (2015): Started 27 matches while appearing in 98 sets…led the team with 76 total blocks and tied for the team-lead in solo blocks with eight…had a season-high 12 kills in the season-finale victory over Dallas Baptist (11/14)…registered a season-high seven blocks in a 3-1 victory over UT-Permian Basin (10/10).
Sophomore (2014): Started in all 27 of the Hilltoppers’ matches and played in 99 sets…contributed 80 blocks (8 solo, 72 assisted), good enough for second on the team…averaged .81 blocks per set which tied for first on the team…collected 68 digs and 117 kills…added six assists and nine service aces…season-high seven block assists came against UT-Permian Basin (11/8)…top performance of the season in kills came against Texas A&M – Kingsville with 9 (10/11).
Freshman (2013): Played 21 matches including 14 for starts in her first year on the Hilltop…finished third on the team with 65 block assists…averaged 1.03 blocks per set for the season…finished the season with 65 kills…tied her season-high of eight kills versus Tarleton State (10/22) while maintaining a .389 hitting percentage for the match.
Prep: Played four years volleyball at Klein Forest High School in Houston, Texas…in 2011 she was named the most valuable player on her team…earned all-district second-team honors the same season…named to the AVCA Under Armour All-American watch list in 2012…received a spot on the honorable mention all-state team during 2012 season…named to the all-tournament team at the 2012 Magnolia Volley-Battle tournament… played club for the Houston Juniors Elite-18 Team.was academic all-district from 2012-13…actively involved with the National Honor Society, Principles and Superintendents Advisory Committee, as well as the International Business Academy and Business Professionals of America…graduated in the top five percent of her class and was on the honor roll all four years.
Personal: Tabitha Liyah Elder was born on Dec. 28, 1994…daughter of Marc and Tirsza Elder of Houston, Texas…has one sibling: Marc…plans to study marketing at St. Edward’s…her hobbies include watching television, sleeping, doing eyebrows and babysitting…her biggest athletic thrill is winning.
