St. Edward's University Athletics

Junior (2012-13): Saw action in 25 games while starting in three in his first season on the Hilltop…averaged 10.8 minutes per game…contributed 95 points and 13 assists throughout the season…put up back-to-back double-digit points against UT-Permian Basin and Panhandle State.
 
Sophomore (Pratt CC (Kan.)) (2011-12): Played in 29 games during his sophomore season…averaged 7.6 points per game while shooting 37 percent from the field…shot 39 percent from behind the arc…made 53 of his 135 three-point attempts…was team captain.
 
Freshman (Pratt CC (Kan.)) (2010-11): Saw action in 31 games and averaged 6.3 points on 38 percent shooting from the field…averaged 2.6 rebounds per game…he helped his team to achieve a #25 national ranking for two weeks of the season.
 
Prep:  Played three years of varsity basketball at Bowie High School in Bowie Md.…averaged 10.0 and 11.0 points a game during the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons, respectively…was named the teams most impressive player in 2007…was the team captain his junior and senior seasons…was a member of the Gentleman’s Club and on the A-B Honor Roll in 2007 and 2008.

Personal:  John Lewis Rutherford was born on Feb. 3, 1990…son of John and Marcella Rutherford of Bowie, Md.…has one sibling: Consuelo (25)…plans to study criminal justice at St. Edward’s with hopes of becoming a law enforcement officer…enjoys listening to music and playing NBA 2K…also likes to meet new friends…his biggest athletic thrill is watching Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, and Michael Jordan play.
