Redshirt Freshman (2013-14): Saw action in 23 games for the Hilltoppers…averaged 1.6 points per contest in 6.0 minutes of action per game…grabbed 14 offensive rebounds on the season helping his rebound average of 1.4 per game…scored points in four consecutive games during conference play (01/18/14 – 01/30/14).
 
Freshman (2012-13): Redshirted the season.
 
Prep: Lettered four years at John Paul II High School in Plano, Texas…during his junior year he recorded 11.5 points, 8.2 rebounds per game, and was a 77 percent free-throw shooter…earned a spot on the TAPPS 5A All-Tournament team, TAPPS 5A Second-Team All-State team, and the MVP award of the Prosper Holiday Classic…helped his team to the TAPPS 5A State Finals and third place in district play…also won the American Prep Shootout and Prosper Holiday Classic Championships…was a member of the Recruitment Leadership Council, the Cardinal Mentor program, and the Ambassadors Pro-Life Club…also was a Bishop Graham Award Recipient for Leadership and an Outstanding Cardinal Scholar.
 
Personal: James “Jae” Samuel Rickets was born on Feb. 28, 1994…son of Mark and Lisa Rickets of Plano, Texas…has three siblings: Zach (24), Erin (22), and Claire (17)…currently studying criminology at St. Edward’s with career hopes of entering the field of law enforcement…enjoys playing basketball and football during his spare time…his biggest athletic thrill is playing in the TAPPS 5A State Championship game during his senior year.
