Junior (2015-16): Appeared in 29 games, making 14 starts and logging 636 minutes…finished second on the team in rebounding (4.5) and free-throw percentage (.840)…after taking over a starting role in the last 14 games, he averaged 10.1 points per contest, which included eight double-figure scoring games…scored a season-high 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting against Lubbock Christian (2/18)…tallied a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds on the road against St. Mary’s (2/11).
Sophomore (2014-15): Appeared in all 30 of St. Edward’s games, averaging 17.2 minutes per outing…made 26 three-point baskets and scored 158 points…finished the season with 29 steals, 33 assists, and 61 rebounds…best game of the season came against UT-Permian Basin (2/5/15) when he scored 15 points…also had a 12-point outing against Huston-Tillotson (12/2/14)…produced season-high six steals against Rogers State (1/29/15).
Freshman (2013-14): Played and started in all 26 games in his first season at St. Edward’s…averaged 20.1 minutes per game while scoring 5.3 points and 2.5 rebounds…dished out 1.3 assists…scored 12 points against Texas A&M–Kingsville (11/26/13)…had another double-digit output against conference foe Newman, as he scored 11 points, including shooting 83 percent from the field.
Prep: Lettered three years at the LBJ High School…won three-consecutive district championships and bi-district championships his sophomore through senior seasons…helped his team win the area championship his senior season…named to the all-district second-team during his sophomore season…during his junior season, he was named first-team all-district and his team’s most valuable player…earned first-team all-state, Austin
American Statesman second-team all-Centex and team MVP in his senior season…averaged 12.3 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.8 steals during that season…graduated as Salutatorian from LBJ High School…a part of the National Honor Society, and named academic all-district for three years…won the African American Heritage Award form 2009-13 and the Trustee Scholar Award from 2010-13.
Personal: Ethan Vincent Gilbert was born on Oct. 4, 1994…son of Randall and Ronee Gilbert of Austin, Texas…has three siblings: Athena Reed (34), Erik Gilbert (29), and Evan Gilbert (25)…majoring in business finance with career hopes of becoming a general manager of a professional sports team…his hobbies include watching movies…his biggest athletic thrill is winning a close playoff game at the buzzer.
