Nussman’s double-double leads St. Edward’s to 94-60 blowout of Open Bible College

Box Score AUSTIN, Texas – St. Edward's forward HARLEY NUSSMAN tallied 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Hilltoppers to a 94-60 victory over Open Bible College Saturday afternoon at the Recreation and Convocation Center.
 
St. Edward's (4-4) raced out to a 10-2 lead in the game's first three minutes. Nussman led the way with five points during the stretch, which ended with a three-point play by the 6-11 big man.
 
The Hilltopper lead hovered around 8-to-9 points throughout most of the first half. With St. Edward's holding a 25-16 advantage, Open Bible College (0-4) got a three-pointer by Oluwole Olynorode and a jumper by Darnell Reece to close the gap to five points with 6:42 remaining in the opening half.  In the final five minutes, Nussman went to work again, registering three buckets and two free throws as his 15 first-half points helped St. Edward's to a 41-32 advantage at the break.
 
In the second half, it was the freshman that got it done for the Hilltoppers. JOHN GRAMLICH hit two treys, and ETHAN GILBERT added two buckets of his own. This helped St. Edward's to a 19-10 run in the half's first nine minutes. It gave the Hilltoppers a 60-42 lead, with 11:09 remaining in the contest.
 
St. Edward's would run away with the game from there as they outscored the Bruins, 53-28 in the second half.
 
St. Edward's had four players in double-figure scoring. Joining Nussman were JAMES STUKES with 17 points, Gilbert with 14, and Gramlich with 11. The Hilltoppers notched the most assists (22) it has registered in their last six games. Gramlich led the way with a career-high seven assists, while Gilbert chipped in with four of his own.
 
St. Edward's outrebounded the Bruins, 58-33, with 22 of them coming on the offensive end. This was the highest rebounding margin for the Hilltoppers on the season.
 
St. Edward's will be back in action Thursday, December 19th, when they host Heartland Conference rival Panhandle State. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Recreation and Convocation Center. Live video and stats will be available on the Hilltopper Athletic Website.
