How It Happened
-St. Edward's had the early six-point lead, 12-6, but the hometown Eagles fought back and held a 23-22 advantage with 8:20 left in the first half.
-A jumper by
HARLEY NUSSMAN was sandwiched between three pointer by
JAMES STUKES and
CONNER KJER to send the Hilltoppers on an 8-0 run and gave then its largest lead at seven points, with 7:12 remaining. Oklahoma Christian would close out the first half, using a 14-4 run to take a three-point lead into the break.
-In the second half, the lead would grow to as many as 16 points, 76-60 with just under six minutes to play.
-The Hilltoppers came roaring back, outscoring the Eagles, 17-2, to cut the lead to 78-77, with 1:12 remaining.
-Trailing by two with just under a minute to play, St. Edward's played tough defense only to allow Willie Harper to hit a three pointer with the shot clock winding down to give the Eagles a five-point lead to put the game away.
