Debrow throws a perfect game in Hilltoppers split with #2 West Texas A&M

How it Happened (Game 1)
-Neither team could manage a run in the game's first two innings. West Texas A&M left two runners stranded in the second inning when Mercedes Garcia grounded out to pitcher KATELYN KLUG.
-Renee Erwin of West Texas A&M hit a two run homerun to right center in the third inning.
-St. Edward's put up one run in third inning. TORI GONZALEZ reached on a fielding error by the third baseman. Gonzalez advanced to second on a wild pitch. Pinch hitter KP PERCH performed a sacrifice bunt to bring home Gonzalez.
-The fifth inning saw each team put runners in scoring position. West Texas A&M had runners on second and third, but both runners were left on base.
Meanwhile, the Hilltoppers added a run to tie the score at 2-2. Gonzalez was brought home off CYDNEY ERVIN's single to the right side.
-In the six inning, Allie Cranfill of West Texas A&M homered to left center to give the Lady Buffs a 3-2 lead.
-In the seventh inning, West Texas A&M added three more runs to reach the final score of 6-2. Brittany Gehle, Jessica Sipe, and Erwin all crossed the plate for the Lady Buffs.
 
How it Happened (Game 2)
-The Hilltoppers got off to a quick start with three runs in the first inning. MARISSA THOME and KACI OLSON each benefited from West Texas A&M fielding errors to get on base. LAUREN BRODE reached on a fielder's choice, but Thome was called out at second on the play for interference. Valdez singled through the left side to load the bases. Olson came home off a wild pitch. Brode crossed home when KENDALL LUCAS' fly to right field was dropped. Valdez scored off a sacrifice fly by Gonzalez.
-The score remained 3-0 through four innings. Pitcher SARAH DEBROW cooled off a West Texas A&M offense that scored six runs in game one. Debrow threw three strikeouts on her way to a perfect game.
-In the fifth inning, St. Edward's caught fire offensively. Brode singled down the left field line and was replaced by pinch runner LAURA ALVARADO. Valdez was walked. Lucas singled up the middle and advanced to second on the throw. Alvarado scored on the play. Pinch hitter FAITH ROBERTS struck out, but reached on a wild pitch. This brought home Valdez. Next, EMILY MAYFIELD was walked and MEMRIE WATERS was hit by a pitch. This brought home Lucas. Then, Thome doubled down the right field line to score Mayfield and Roberts.
-With the Hilltoppers up 8-0, the game was called due to the mercy rule.
 
Beyond the Box Score
-Debrow has proved to be one of the best pitchers in the Heartland Conference. Today's perfect game follows up a no-hitter on Friday against Texas A&M-International. Debrow improves to 17-7 on the year.
-Right fielder TORI GONZALEZ made an impact in today's games. Gonzalez had two hits in game one and had one hit in game two.
-In game two, three different players had two hits (Lucas, Thome, and Valdez).   
-In her final regular-season home game as a Hilltopper, Thome had two RBIs and the walk-off double to reach the mercy rule.

The Hilltoppers will next travel to Odessa to face UT-Permian Basin in a three-game series starting on April 19.
