How it Happened (Game 1)
-Neither team could produce much offense in the game's first three innings. Each team managed just one hit through three innings. For the Falcons, this was due in large part to
SARAH DEBROW's six strikeouts through three innings.
-In the fourth inning,
LAUREN BRODE homered to left center to give the Hilltoppers a 1-0 lead.
-The Hilltoppers added one run in the sixth inning. Marisa Thome was brought home off a sacrifice bunt by
KP PERCH.
-In the seventh inning, UT-Permian Basin scored two runs to force extra innings. First, Kati Walker scored off Taleas Marble's single to right field. A key play occurred when Chelsey Morgan doubled to right center and advanced to third on the throw. Marble attempted to round the bases but was thrown out at home by Olson by way of
TORI GONZALEZ. The second run came when Morgan scored off a sacrifice fly by Kara Isbel.
-In the top of the ninth inning,
FAITH ROBERTS homered to center field to give St. Edward's a 3-2 lead.
-In the bottom of the ninth, Debrow needed three outs to ice the game. Debrow struck out the first batter, but she allowed a double to Marble to give UT-Permian a runner in scoring position. The win was secured when Morgan popped up to second base.
How it Happened (Game 2)
-The action heated up in the second inning where the Hilltoppers scored two runs. First, Roberts homered to right center. Next,
KENDALL LUCAS reached on a fielding error by the right fielder and later advanced to third on a wild pitch. Lucas scored off
KYLI HERMAN's groundout to second base.
-UT-Permian Basin scored one run of its own in the second inning. Amber Gutierrez scored off Nikki Brailsford's double to center field.
-In the third inning, the Hilltoppers added three runs for a 5-1 lead. First, Thome and Olson scored off Brode's double to center field. Lauren Alvarado replaced Brode as a pinch runner. Alvarado scored off Herman's single up the middle.
-UT-Permian Basin added a run in the third as well. Marble scored off Isbel's single up the middle.
-Each team added one run in the fifth inning. For St. Edward's, Olson homered to right field. For UT-Permian Basin, Leslianne Ericson scored off a sacrifice fly by Isbel.
-The Hilltoppers scored four runs in the sixth inning for a 10-3 lead. First, Gonzalez homered to center field. Next,
CYDNEY ERVIN doubled down the left field line. Ervin advanced to third after Thome and Olson each walked. Ervin scored on a throwing error by the catcher. Thome scored off a fly out to center field by Brode. Olson scored off Robert's single down the right field line.
-UT-Permian added a run in the seventh when Marble scored off a single by Isbel.
Beyond the Box Score
-Debrow had 12 strikeouts and improves to 18-7 on the year.

FAITH ROBERTS had a standout day. Roberts had two hits in game one including the crucial home run in the ninth inning. In game two, Roberts had three hits and two RBIs.

LAUREN BRODE also deserves credit. Brode homered in game one and had three RBIs in game two.
-In all, the Hilltoppers had five home runs on the day.
