How It Happened
-It was a pitcher's duel for the first seven innings of action as UT-Permian Basin starter Desiree Valero and St. Edward's starter SARAH DEBROW each limited the opposition to just four hits.
-In the extra frame, the Hilltopper offense awoke. CYDNEY ERVIN and MARISSA THOME singled to lead off the inning. A groundout by KACI OLSON moved the runners up 60 feet. A double by LAUREN BRODE pushed two runs across, while KENDALL LUCAS singled home the third run of the game.
-After giving up a leadoff walk in the bottom of the eighth, Debrow buckled down and retired three-straight to end the game. The last two were retired via the strikeout.
 
Beyond the Box Score
-It was the second-straight start that Debrow has tallied double-digit strikeouts and third time in the last four games. Over her last 11 starts, Debrow has gone 11-0 with a 0.73 ERA and 96 strikeouts in 77.0 innings of work.
-Ervin has started to come on as of late. The freshman outfielder has hits in eight of her last nine games. She has raised her batting average to .323 during the stretch.
-LAUREN BRODE also has hits in eight of her last nine games as her averaged has been raised to .357, which is second on the team.

Up Next
The Hilltoppers will be back in action Saturday when they travel to San Antonio to take on St. Mary's in a crucial three-game series. The series will decide the Heartland Conference Regular Season Championship and who will host the postseason conference tournament. St. Edward's trails the Rattlers by one game in the conference standings.
 
Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m. The third and final game will be Sunday at noon. All games will be held at the San Antonio ISD Spring Sports Complex right behind SA Burbank High School. The field is located at 1002 Edwards St. on the south side of San Antonio.
