How it happened
-The Hilltoppers got things going in the second inning recording three hits and scoring one run. KENDALL LUCAS scored the run for St. Edward's, she reached base after she was hit by a pitch, and scored the run on a MARISSA THOME single to center field.
-The Hilltoppers added two more runs to extend their lead, 3-0 in the third inning. Briana Bozon and FAITH ROBERTS crossed the plate for St. Edward's. Roberts immediately got into scoring position after she doubled to left center. Bozon reached on a walk. LAURA ALVARADO provided the two RBI's with a triple to left center.
-The defensive effort by the Hilltoppers kept the Dustdevil offense at bay. The defense only allowed one runner to reach scoring position.
-SARAH DEBROW started the game only allowing three hits in the first three innings. She finished the game with only one hit in each of the last four innings. Debrow struck out 11 batters in her seven innings of work. This is her 20^th win of the season.
 
Beyond the Box Score
-Déjà vu: Last year the Hilltoppers defeated the Dustdevils in the opening round by scoring three runs and took on St. Mary's in their second game. St. Edward's would eventually win the Heartland Conference Tournament and advance to the NCAA Regional Round.
-Debrow finds herself in a three-way tie for third place in the St. Edward's record books with her 20^th win on the year. She also sits in a tie for fourth with 188.0 innings pitched in a season.
-LAURA ALVARADO tallied three hits on the afternoon that is the most hits she has documented in a single game as a Hilltopper.

The Hilltoppers will be back in action tomorrow as they take on St. Mary's for a postseason installment of “The Battle of the Saints.” First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at the SAISD Sports Complex.
