Hilltoppers can’t complete comeback in 87-83 loss to Lubbock Christian

Box Score LUBBOCK, Texas – The St. Edward's men's basketball team erased a double-digit halftime deficit to within one possession late, but could not overcome as it fell to Lubbock Christian, 87-83, Saturday afternoon at the Rip Griffin Center.
 
Lubbock Christian (17-8, 12-6) used some hot shooting to take a 49-39 advantage into the halftime break.
 
St. Edward's stepped up its game and reduced a 12-point disadvantage to within one possession with under a minute to play. Down by five points with under a minute, JOHN RUTHERFORD would nail a trey with 10 seconds remaining to cut the Chaps lead to three points. After fouling Lubbock Christian, the home team would make two free throws to put the game out of reach.
 
RAMIR BURTON led the Hilltoppers with 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting to go along with four assists. HARLEY NUSSMAN narrowly missed a double-double with 13 points and eight rebounds. JOHN GRAMLICH led the team with five assists.
 
St. Edward's has now ended its season. They compiled a 10-16 record and a 6-12 record within the Heartland Conference.
