LUBBOCK, Texas – St. Edward's University Volleyball (7-18, 5-9) suffered a three-set loss to Lubbock Christian (16-9, 9-5) on Thursday night in Heartland Conference action.
The duo of
MIKAYLA GRILL and
MIKAYLA PARKER provided six kills on the night.
JACLYN BILLIE had a team-high eight assists and
MORGAN BECKHAM ground out 10 digs. A typically strong presence at the net was absent as the Hilltoppers put up just five blocks.
"Our team has been through a lot this year with injuries and an ever-changing lineup, but tonight it was simply a lack of drive and motivation to win," said head coach Mary DeJute. "I am incredibly proud of this team and what they have overcome, but moving forward to the end of this season and into next year we have to find ways to stay motivated."
In games one and two the Hilltoppers fell victim to a Lubbock Christian attack that posted attacking percentages of .341 and .414 and a pair of 25-14 scores. St. Edward's took an early lead in game three, but the Lady Chaps would have none of it and, on their senior night, power to a 25-15 third-set victory.
Coach DeJute and her team remain on the road for a match this Saturday against UT-Permian Basin in Odessa, Texas. First serve is set for noon and live stats and video can be found by going to GoHilltoppers.com.
