Hilltoppers Score Conference-Best, 62, Against Nationally-Ranked Lady Chaps

LUBBOCK, Texas – Despite falling to the second-ranked team in the country, 78-62, St. Edward's Women's Basketball scored more points on Lubbock Christian than any other team in the Heartland Conference this season.

With the loss, the Hilltoppers move to 6-11 overall, and 4-5 in conference play. Lubbock Christian remains undefeated at 17-0 on the season, and 9-0 in the league.

SHAKERA BARNES was impressive again; leading all scorers with 18 points while adding five assists and three steals. She has put up double-digit points in every conference game this season. LEXI FATHEREE continued her impressive return from injury with 14 points on 4-for-6 shooting from behind the arc. KHIANI CLARK and HALEY JOLY led the team with seven rebounds each.

The Hilltopper offensive was consistent, scoring double-digit points in all four quarters, and the defense held Lubbock Christian to only eight points in the final period. However, the Lady Chaps used 26 points in the first quarter and 28 points in the third to seal the deal.

A 6-0 run in the final minutes of the third quarter, and a 6-2 run to start the fourth were critical in St. Edward's scoring output. ALEX BOX's basket in the waning seconds of the game eclipsed the previous scoring mark set by Oklahoma Christian.

Coach Riehl and her team return to the hilltop on Thursday to start the second half of their conference schedule against Rogers State. Tipoff is slated for 5:30 p.m. in the Recreation and Convocation Center. Live stats and video are available at GoHilltoppers.com.
