AUSTIN, Texas – The St. Edward's volleyball team took down Dallas Baptist 3-1 on Thursday night inside the Recreation and Convocation Center.
The Hilltoppers (8-10, 6-1 HC) remain undefeated at home this season with a 3-0 mark, while extending their current win streak to three games. The loss dropped Dallas Baptist to 4-16 overall and 2-5 in Heartland Conference play.
In addition to
KATE HENDRIX's double-double,
TABITHA ELDER and
KATIE MARTIN finished with double-digit kills.
MADISON MCCLURG and Beckham also joined Hendrix with nearly 20 digs apiece.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Elder used a kill to break an 18-18 tie in set one before a Martin attack clinched the game 25-22.
- A double block from MIKAYLA PARKER and Martin clinched a 26-24 victory in set two.
- Dallas Baptist used an early 7-1 burst to run away 25-13 in set three.
- Martin smashed down a kill in the final set to break a 21-21 tie, and Parker teamed up with McClurg to clinch the set 25-23 and the victory.
HILLTOPPER NOTES
- St. Edward's moved the all-time series against DBU to13-14 and have won the last two.
- Head coach Mary DeJute has now equaled her win total from last season with 10 matches left to play.
- On defense, the Hilltoppers have now held six straight opponents under .200 hitting.

"I think (the win) was just pure grit. I'm not sure that there was any magic potion. They didn't feel very comfortable in the third set, and they didn't enjoy getting beat that way. In the fourth set they came back out and took control."
