MIDLAND, Texas – A total of seven Hilltoppers recorded wins on Friday as St. Edward's Women's Tennis rolled past the Mustangs of Western New Mexico, 9-0 at the Bush Tennis Center.

Paolo Carpio made her second start of the season and maintained her undefeated, 2-0 record with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles. ELISA GUILLEN and VALENTINA MARTINEZ both went 2-0 on the day and remained tied for the team lead in wins at 10-1 in singles. In doubles, IVANA ZECEVIC and LAURA GALVAN remained dominant, moving to 11-0 with an 8-2 win.

The Hilltoppers are now 8-3 overall and 3-0 in the South Central Region. Western New Mexico falls to 4-7.

"Today was an all-around, great team win. We had a specific goal of winning all three doubles, something we've only done once this season," said head coach Kendall Brooks. "We accomplished our goal. From there, the momentum just kind of carried us all the way through singles. I am happy with the win, and how everyone competed. Now, we will head home to start preparing for another regional opponent on Monday."

Zecevic and Galvan kicked off the match with a quick, 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles. Guillen and Martinez followed suit, winning 8-5 at No. 2, and Anajli Sampath teamed up with MARISSA WILLIAMS to complete the sweep, 8-6.

In singles action, the Hilltoppers quickly clinched the victory as Zecevic shut out her opponent, 6-0, 6-0. Galvan tallied the deciding point with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 3.

Even with the triumph in hand, St. Edward's still had to battle for the sweep. Sampath fought her way to a three-set victory at No. 1. She dropped the first set 6-2 before coming back to win 6-3, 10-5. Martinez also had a battle on her hands after losing 6-2 in set one. However,  the Hilltoppers would not be denied the shutout as she rallied to win, 6-4, 10-8.  Guillen and Carpio capped off the day with straight-set wins at No. 5 and No. 6.

Coach Brooks and her team get the weekend off before heading to Waco, Texas on Monday for a neutral-site match against Colorado Mesa. Play is set to begin at 1 p.m. at the Waco Regional Tennis Center.
