PHOENIX, Ariz. – St. Edward's men's tennis opened day one of three at the Firestorm Classic with wins over Colorado Mesa, 8-1 and Holy Names, 7-2 Friday. Colorado Mesa is ranked #10 in the South Central region and Holy Names is ranked ninth in the West region.
 
The Hilltoppers (8-2) held a 2-1 lead after doubles play over the Mavericks (3-7) before turning it on in singles where they took all six flights. SEU kept the intensity high between matches and swept the Hawks (0-4) in doubles. HN would steal one singles flight on court three, but straight set wins from 
LUIS DIAZ and 
ANDRE MERCADO sealed the win for the Hilltoppers.
 
HIGHLIGHTS

CHASE BARTLETT and 
ANDRE MERCADO each recorded their 30
th career singles win.
• 
LUIS DIAZ logged his 15
th doubles win of the season vs. Colorado Mesa; he and teammate Bartlett improve to 12-4 overall after wins vs. both Colorado Mesa and Holy Names.
• 
GABRIEL ZUNIGA recorded his tenth career singles win vs. Holy Names.
• SEU improves to 3-0 all-time vs. Colorado Mesa and evened the series 1-1 vs. Holy Names.
