2018 NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Championship Bracket
SURPRISE, Ariz. – The 40
th-ranked St. Edward's men's tennis team is up for the challenge in taking on No. 1 Barry in the first round of the 2018 NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Championships Wednesday at the Surprise Tennis and Racquet Complex.
The Hilltoppers (21-9) have won seven consecutive matches, including a 5-4 victory over Heartland foe No. 34 St. Mary's to win the 2018 NCAA South Central Region I Championship. Wednesday, SEU will log its ninth appearance to the NCAA National Tournament in the program's history with its last appearance being in 2015, and last win on the big stage in 2011 vs. No. 20 Drury (5-0).
The Buccaneers (22-2) enter the tournament on a ten-match win streak of their own and handed out a pair of blanks vs. Benedict and last year's National Champion, No. 8 West Florida en route to claiming their 14
th South Region title.
St. Edward's trails Barry in the all-time series 0-7, and the two clubs will reunite on the court for the first time since 2013. Wednesday will be just the second time these two teams have met in the national tournament with the first being in 2006 where the Bucs defeated the Hilltoppers, 5-2.
