WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Junior
CHASE BARTLETT snagged St. Edward's first-ever ITA Regional Singles title Sunday to earn a spot in the ITA Cup National Fall Championships.
Bartlett took on a familiar face on the other side of the net in the main draw finals, SEU first-year
ANISH SRINIKETH. Both Hilltoppers pulled out the upset in the semifinals. Sriniketh defeated #9 Liam Fraboulet of Western New Mexico 1-6, 7-6 (3), 6-2 and Bartlett took down #2 Jeremiah Gonzalez with an epic battle of his own, winning 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (3).
In the finals, Bartlett's experience won out as he defeated Sriniketh 6-4, 6-2.
ANDRE MERCADO advanced to the finals in the consolation draw with a win by default over Alberto Diaz of MSU. Mercado was topped in the finals 6-1, 6-3 by MSU's Mylavarapu.
The 2018 ITA Cup will be hosted by Berry College at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Georgia on October 11-14.
