Box Score AUSTIN, Texas – It was a strong start to the spring season for the Hilltopper Men's Tennis team as they defeated Concordia (TX) 6-1 Friday afternoon.
 
St. Edward's swept singles play with the duo of ZAC ROBINSON and NICO MERCADO nearly sweeping Le/Garcia in #2 doubles, winning 6-1. LOGAN BUIGNET and GABRIEL ZUNIGA took down Villarreal/Hayes 6-2 while CHASE MOREHOUSE and MATEUS DE COL completed the doubles sweep with a 6-4 win over Bode/Arredondo at #1 doubles.
 
Concordia snuck one match from the Hilltoppers, winning at #1 singles as Bode defeated LUIS DIAZ 7-6, 6-4. The match was over long before that, however, as the Hilltoppers clinched the win with singles wins at #3 and #2. Zuniga downed Arredondo 6-2, 6-0 at #3 singles and Buignet defeated Le 6-1, 6-2 at the #2 slot.
 
Mercado and Robinson also secured wins in singles action. Mercado easily handled Pena, Jr. 6-2, 6-0 at #5 singles while Robinson found himself in a battle after cruising in the first set to win 6-1, 7-6.
 
The Hilltoppers start the year at 1-0 and return to action on Friday, February 8 as they face Ouachita Baptist in Midlothian, Texas at 1 pm.
