AUSTIN, Texas - The St. Edward's baseball team opened a four-game series against Colorado School of Mines, falling 3-2 Friday afternoon despite out-hitting the Orediggers.

BLAKE HOLUB had a shaky start on the mound, allowing one run in the first inning after back-to-back walks to open the frame. The Hilltoppers were unable to score in the bottom half of the inning, but got the run back in the second.
NOLAN BURR, with two outs, hit a double down the left field line.
JAKE HAHN followed with a single to center to drive home Burr, tying the game 1-1.
A one-out, two-run homerun by Garvens put Colorado School of Mines up 3-1 in the fourth. The SEU's pitching staff settled in, holding the Orediggers scoreless the rest of the way. St. Edward's pulled within one run in the sixth as Hahn singled to center, driving home Holub from second base.
DANIEL SABATINO entered in relief on the mound, throwing four impressive innings, allowing just one hit, no runs, while striking out four. Holub suffered the loss despite allowing just three hits and striking out seven.
Hahn led at the plate, going 3-4 with 2 RBI while Burr went 2-4 with one run scored.
The Hilltoppers fall to 7-3 on the year and return to action against Colorado School of Mines with a double-header on Saturday starting at noon.
