AUSTIN – Morgan Kirby has been named the assistant coach for the St. Edward's volleyball program, head coach Stefanie Holler announced on Thursday.
Kirby spent last season as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's volleyball teams at King University in Bristol, Tennessee. She also spent two years as the head volleyball coach at Brunswick Community College in North Carolina.
While at Brunswick CC, Kirby led the Dolphins to a regional tournament appearance in 2017.
"Morgan's experience as both an assistant coach and head coach is very valuable to our program at St. Edward's," Holler said. "She was also a standout player and her ability to teach offensive skills will be extremely helpful to our student-athletes. We also expect her to make an immediate impact in recruiting."
In addition to her coaching experience, Kirby was an admissions recruiter and athletics department assistant at Brunswick CC. She also was a student-athlete services intern at Central Michigan University, where she assisted with class scheduling for student-athletes and freshman orientation.
Holler and Kirby played together at Belmont Abbey College. Kirby graduated from Belmont Abbey in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in sports management.
The Hilltoppers will open the 2019 season on Sept. 6 at the Reddie-Tiger Invitational in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
