SAN ANTONIO – St. Edward's baseball's ninth inning comeback came up one run short as they dropped game three of the series at St. Mary's 4-3.

The Rattlers were able to score a run in the fourth and fifth innings to take the lead 3-2 and added one more in the eighth that proved to be the difference maker.
With their last chances at the plate, SEU got to work in the ninth.
CULLEN AINSWORTH sent the first pitch he saw over the left field fence, pulling St. Edward's within one run. SEU got runners on first and second but were unable to push the tying run across the plate to suffer the loss.
Five Hilltoppers posted a hit in the loss.
WESLEY GAFFORD suffered the loss on the mound, allowing three runs, two earned, on seven hits with one walk and two strikeouts.
SEU falls to 5-10 on the year and 5-10 in Lone Star Conference play. They return to action on Tuesday, facing the top team in the nation in Angelo State on the road.
