AUSTIN – St. Edward's baseball, led by BLAKE HOLUB who was perfect at the plate, scored in every inning on 19 hits to defeat Texas A&M International 17-6 Sunday to complete the sweep of the weekend series.
 
TAMIU may have been the first on the board with one run in the first, but SEU was quick to answer and did so emphatically with six runs in the bottom half of the frame.
 
The Hilltoppers didn't stop there as Holub opened the second with a homerun to center. DYLAN MACKIN extended the lead to seven with an RBI single, scoring JAKE HAHN.
 
The Dust Devils managed to score two in the third, but CHASE COS matched the effort single handedly, blasting a two-run shot over the left field fence to keep the seven point advantage intact.
 
St. Edward's was never threatened in the contest as they continued to add to their run total.
 
Holub was outstanding, going 5-5 with a homerun, three doubles, two RBIs and four runs scored. Not to be outdone, JAKE HAHN went 3-3 with a double, four RBIs, three runs scored and two walks. MORGAN ALLEN and DAVIS DREWEK also hit homeruns in the blowout win.
 
WESLEY GAFFORD earned the win on the mound, allowing four earned runs, five total, on five hits with five walks and seven strikeouts.
 
St. Edward's improves to 11-15 on the year and 10-14 in Lone Star Conference play. They return to action on Tuesday, hosting Angelo State for a non-conference contest. First pitch is set for 2:30 pm.
