Hilltoppers bounce back for big win at TAMUK

KINGSVILLE, Texas – St. Edward's used an eight run fourth inning on their way to a 13-1 routing of Texas A&M-Kingsville Saturday.

The Javelinas struck first, scoring one run in the first, but SEU got hot in the fourth to take a commanding lead. JAKE HAHN got the Hilltoppers started on the right foot with a single on the first pitch. Despite having two outs in the inning and just one runner on, St. Edward's used five singles and a walk through the next six batters, scoring five runs to force a pitching change.

A fresh arm on the mound for TAMUK couldn't stop the streaking Hilltoppers. Three walks and a double put the run count to eight before the Javelinas secured the final out of the inning.

St. Edward's added a run in the fifth and seventh while holding Kingsville scoreless with outstanding pitching and defense. Three Hilltoppers runs in the ninth secured the win for SEU.

Hahn led at the plate, going 3-5 with two walks while DAVIS DREWEK was 2-3 with three walks and one RBI.

JACK GRANACK was outstanding on the mound, allowing just one run on seven hits with only one walk and nine strikeouts in 8.1 innings.

SEU improves to 12-16 on the year and 11-15 in Lone Star Conference play. They close the series against TAMU-Kingsville on Sunday at 1 pm.
